Training Schedule July 13, 2007

This is the tentative training schedule for the remainder of my training.  Please check back often for updates on times and locations.  If you are willing to kayak, swim, walk the beach/lake front/pool/etc, please feel free to sign up.  I’m open to suggestions on swimming grounds as well.  This schedule does not include my regularly scheduled workouts with the Tualatin Hills Barracudas or Nike Masters Swimming teams.

        

JULY 

July 14-15:

  • 3-4 hour swims on Saturday and Sunday
  • Location: Nehalem Bay State Park – Boat Launch
  • Meeting Times: 07/14=11:30am  07/15=12:30pm
  • Training partners:
    • Saturday: Martin Held, Jane and Zack Barry
    • Sunday: Jen and Steve Wicker, Keri Dughman, Kelby Ridenour

July 19th:

  • 8000 yard/meter pool workout for pacing 
  • Location: Nike pool
  • Time:  Michelle to start at 11:00am
  • Training Partners: Jeff Rodgers, Tom Redding, Marco Morescalchi

July 21-22

  • 3-5 hour swims on Saturday and Sunday
  • Locations: Saturday = Nehalem Bay,  Sunday = Hagg Lake
  • Times: Saturday = 12pm start, Sunday = 7am start
  • Training Partners:
    • Saturday: None
    • Sunday: Tom Weyrauch, Kim Raimer, Elizabeth Kafel

July 27 – 29:

         

AUGUST 

August 2nd:

  • 8000 yard/meter pool workout for pacing 
  • Location: Nike pool
  • Training Partners: Jeff Rodgers, Brianna Showell, Tom Redding, Marco Morescalchi, Missy Moss

August 3rd:

  • Night Training
  • Location: Hagg Lake
  • Start Time: at dusk around 8:40pm
  • Training time: 1-2 hours
    • To learn how to turn on/attach glow sticks
    • To learn how to switch goggles
    • Become comfortable with losing daylight
  •  Training Partners:  Jane Barry, Kim Raimer

August 4-5:

  • 4-6 hour swim Saturday – aiming for 6 hours
  • 3-5 hour swim Sunday – aiming for 4-5 hours
  • Location: Nehalem Bay
  • Times:
    • Saturday: 11:00am  (low tide = 10:47am  high tide = 5:16pm, 7ft tide)
    • Sunday: 12:00pm (low tide = 11:31am high tide = 6:03pm, 6ft tide)
  • Training Partners:

    • Sunday: Jane Barry, Kim Raimer, Jeff Rodgers
  • Park fee: $3.00 day use fee + $2.00 if want to take shower

August 11-12

  • Saturday = 4-6 hour training swim, Sunday = Pennock Island Challenge 8.2 miles
  • Location: Ketchikan, AK
  • Time: Saturday TBD,  Sunday race start at 10:30am

August 16th:

  • 8000 yard/meter pool workout for pacing 
  • Training Partners: Tom Redding, Brianna Showell

August 18-19:

  • Saturday: Round 2 of night swimming
    • Location: Hagg Lake
    • Start Time: 3:00am
    • End Time: 10:00am
    • Training Partners: Jane Barry, Elizabeth Kafel, and Kim Raimer
  • Sunday: 3-4 hour swim
    • Location: Nehalem Bay (hopefully)
    • Start Time: 11:00am
    • End Time: 2 or 3pm
    • Training Partners: TBD

August 25-26 – Split Channel Training:

  • Saturday: 7-8 hour swim, Sunday: 6-7 hour swim
  • Location: Nehalem Bay
  • Times:
    • Saturday: 8:00am – 4:00pm
    • Sunday: 8:00am – 3:00pm

September 1-2:

  • Saturday: 6-8 hour swim, Sunday: 5-7 hour swim
  • Location: San Juan Islands

September 6th:

  • 8000 yard/meter pool workout for pacing
  • Location: TBD 

September 8th:

  • Michelle leaves for England. 

                 

NOTES:

  • I’m still working on getting at least one night swim scheduled.  For this swim, I will require a safety kayaker. It could be a really fun evening activity.
  • Just because I’m swimming for hours on end, does not mean that you need to as a swimming buddy.  I will take any amount of time you are willing to swim with me.  And you are allowed wetsuits!
  • This page will be updated as dates and times may shift of swims due to scheduling, shoulder rest, etc.

    Ok, just checked the date book and I can do Aug 5th and for sure the weekend of Sept 1-2. This will be our last chance to make sure we have feedings down…since you didn’t want to take my cousins advice and just catch your own fish while you swim:)
